While the jury might be out on what Brett Favre can still do on the field, one thing there is no doubt about is that he is a one man economic stimulus package for the Twin Cities! While Brett is going to cost the Vikings about $12 million this season for the contract he signed, he immediately generated $2-3 million yesterday for the team in the sales of new season tickets and individual game tickets – sales that will continue to increase for the next several weeks before we even know if the risky addition is even going to work out. Since people that attend football games spend money on food and drink, that probably adds another million dollars to the value. When sales for his football jerseys are included, that revenue range increases another $2-$5 million in sales. High five to the apparel company that Continue reading →
I understand that John Daley has gone through some tough times but what the hell is going on while this athletic apparel? Caddyshack is about 30 years old and I now feel like Judge Smails or Spaulding has been reborn watching Daley’s recent new golf apparel at the British and the PGA. Did he suffer a blow to the head recently or is he paying tribute to the 40th anniversary of Woodstock? I’d understand torn jeans and a sleeveless tee but not whatever paisley print he was wearing.
I’ve got to admit that I’m a big John Daley fan – what golf fan doesn’t want to smash a drive 350 yards and have the incredible touch he had? I’m also an optimist and have hoped that he would be able to pull his life out of the nose dive it was taking for the past decade because he would be the ultimate foe for Tiger. It would be corporate Tiger vs beer chugging John. The differences can’t get more pronounced than that and the tv ratings would go through the roof which would mean golf apparel companies would be able to show their newest golf clothes to a much larger audience. However, with the recent golf apparel John is wearing, I don’t know if that would be good or bad for all golf clothes companies.
It has often been said that all publicity is good publicity and the fact that I’m posting this article means that both the PGA and John Daley are getting publicity. In my mind, this is “My Life on the D List” type publicity which has a shorter attention period than actually winning a tournament, any tournament! Maybe this is a situation of “crazy like a fox” and Daley is launching these new men’s golf clothes to the general public (doubt this will become women’s golf clothes anytime soon). I do see college kids wearing this type of clothes so maybe I’m too old to understand this is on fashion. I guess time will tell but I’d love to hear what company is selling the new golf apparel that John Daley is now wearing. Please send a twitter note to @athleticapparel or post a comment here so that we can share this news with all of our readers. This will be very useful information so that people know what company to search to buy those clothes or to know what company to organize a protest against.
In my mind, I hope Peta organizes a protest against John so that we can go back to the good old boy Daley look and normal men’s golf clothes, if there is such a thing. However, that is only my opinion – what is yours? Please comment and thank you for visiting my blog.
Most of us had “Death of a Salesman” by Arthur Miller as required reading in either high school or college. The tragic story of Willie Loman, a common man, has many lessons that can be applied to our everyday lives. Since our society holds athletes, including former ones like Charles in such a high profile manner, a Greek tragedy might be more fitting. However, Charles Barkley has a way to say things that common people identify with and a personality that has been an excellent fit for NBA broadcasts that frequently draws attention to himself and his network. The attention was turned up a level or 16 on New Year’s Eve when Charles was arrested in Scottsdale, AZ for failing field sobriety tests with a woman that is not his wife.
The reason that I felt Arthur Miller’s novel was especially fitting is that Charles Barkley is a salesman through and through. He sold athletic apparel like few others during his playing days. If it wasn’t for Michael Jordan, Barkley might Continue reading →
I LOVE GOLF and play it as frequently as I can, at least when we live in a warm climate where you can play all year round. Instead to taking my son sledding today, I would have rather taken him to the driving range or out for a round of father/son seeing nature by looking for golf balls in the trees. So it was a complete surprise to me that the season actually started this weekend with the Mercedes-Benz Championship played on The Plantation Course in Kapalua on the Island of Maui. This is a tournament that truly lives up to the name “championship” since you have to be a winner during the previous PGA season to be invited and the facilities are nothing short of golf nirvana! If you have never Continue reading →
Tonight is like a national holiday for our company because we specialize in providing athletic apparel information to consumers to help them make educated purchases. When we recently acquired www.athleticapparelreview.com, we decided the company could expand its consumer interest by going beyond our typical stories. Today is the perfect day to make that change because there is an athletic apparel question that has been on my mind for years – HOW DO I GET MY HANDS ON A “NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP” TEE FROM THE LOSING TEAM??

When it comes to socks, you get what you pay for. At the lowest end of the range are socks made from loosely woven cotton. These tend to be fairly shapeless, and they provide only minimal protection to the feet. From there, socks progress steadily upward in both quality and cost, finally topping out with the socks intended for specific athletic pursuits. These foot garments feature both cuts and materials specially designed to keep the wearer’s feet as comfortable as possible under certain conditions. Athletic socks include those intended for hiking, skiing, running, tennis, American football, soccer and many others.
Feet sweat. It’s an unattractive fact of life, but nevertheless true. The average foot has 250,000 sweat glands, and the average pair produce a little over one cup of perspiration per day. Most shoes, of course, have no absorptive lining, so if a person is wearing shoes with no socks, that perspiration has nowhere to go. Humans have been using socks to deal with this problem for thousands of years. The ancient Greeks wore socks, as did the Romans. These were made from matted animal hair (for warmth), leather or woven fabrics.

Due to the growing movement in the U.S. business community, companies are realizing that smart business practice works in harmony with social and environmental responsibility. Stated by one of our t-shirt manufacturers, Bodek & Rhodes – “It’s a movement that respects the environment and protects people’s health, as well as helping to preserve our air, water and land.”
